Coronavirus: PRAY ! Don’t panic!
But do take practical precautionary procedures.
We have all heard much about the current outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Questions have been raised, and it is already a topic of conversation in the hallways of Sanctuary UMC. You need to know that first and foremost, “we” are very committed to the health and well-being of all who attend. “We” actively use Clorox wipes, and long ago have placed sanitizers around the church. While the chance of exposure is very low, here are some best practices to follow:
First… from the faith perspective: Focus on prayer not panic.
It is OK to elbow pump instead of shaking hands at the time of greeting.
In fact… it is OK not to touch at all!
Use a Holy “wave” instead of a “Holy Kiss”.
While hugs are great… only offer them when its mutually desired.
Stay home when you are sick. You can always mail your check or use electronic giving. 😉
Request a video of the service.
Second, follow these more standard procedures:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Finally, don’t watch so much TV. It only heightens ones anxiety. God’s promises in the Bible will promote PEACE!
